Desk Set
This is one of the best Tracey/Hepburn movies.  Even though the story isn't about Christmas, it is set at Christmas time in the early 1950's and is whimsically reminiscent of a time when life was simpler.  One of the later Spencer Tracy-Katherine Hepburn matchups, this time pitting efficiency expert--sorry, that's "methods engineer"--Richard Sumner (Tracy) against TV-network research whiz Bunny Watson (Hepburn) over adding a new-fangled computer--again, sorry, that's "electronic brain"--to her department, thereby threatening her and her colleagues' livelihoods. Gig Young appears as Bunny's beau, an ambitious network executive who strings her along and becomes apoplectic at the idea that she doesn't need him. But as always, it's Hepburn and Tracy's bickering-flirting that makes this such a winning enterprise--a lunch date that turns into an interrogation and their sly repartee during a Christmas party are a couple of the movie's hilarious highlights. Interestingly, what starts out as something of a technophobic exercise--Hepburn fears for her job, and a computer goes haywire--takes an abrupt turn (perhaps the IBM product placement had something to do with that). Briskly scripted by Henry and Phoebe Ephron (Nora and Delia's parents) from a play by William Marchant.

Emmit Otter's Jug-Band Christmas
Kermit the frog narrates this heart warming, fun filled movie from Jim Henson.  It's only 3 days before Christmas and Frogtown Hollow is hopping with excitement! This is such a great movie.  It's got a lot of cute songs that make you want to sing.  This is one to watch with your kids every year.

The First Christmas
Features the voices of Angela Lansbury and Cyril Ritchard. A young shepherd boy's generosity to some nuns of an abbey is miraculously rewarded.   This animated movie has all the feel good aspects of other Christmas classics but not the fantasy. A person could almost believe it is a story that could have really taken place. This is some of Angela Lansbury's greatest work. It is often over looked when compared with other Christmas classics but more than worth watching.

Frosty the Snowman
A timeless classic about a snowman that comes to life and is tried to get melted by an evil magician that got his magic hat taken - the hat that keeps frost alive.  If I could grade this a 10 I would - but it only goes up to 4.

The Gift of Love
This is a wonderful Christmas story that is based on The Gift of the Magi.  Made in 1979 and starring Marie Osmond, James Woods, and Timothy Buttons, this Christmas story shows the power of love between two people.  She sells her beautiful long hair to buy a chain for his watch, and he sells his watch to buy ribbons for her hair.  This story proves that love is more important than any earthly possession.  And that when two people really love each other, nothing else matters.

Gremlins

Made in 1984 and starring Phoebe Cates and Zach Galligan it's not your normal cute and cuddly Christmas film, except for Gizmo the furry little animal who is central to the story.   Things go crazy in a quiet, small US town when our fluffy hero gets wet and from him spring the most evil, wicked little monsters (Gremlins) you could imagine.  They wreck the town and create havoc in many imaginable ways and what's more it's all set at Christmas time (complete with lots of snow).  It's funny as well.  Especially the scene where the Gremlins fill the cinema and sing "Hi-ho, hi-ho" along with Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
